Rheumatoid Arthritis – Talonavicular Joint
Rheumatoid arthritis is a condition that causes inflammation of the lining of a joint and if untreated can cause extensive arthritis of the affected joint. The talonavicular joint is an important joint in the foot located just in front of the ankle on the inside part of the foot. Talonavicular arthritis is relatively uncommon. However, rheumatoid arthritis is a fairly common underlying cause of arthritis of the talonavicular joint. When the talonavicular joint become arthritic patient often experience considerable pain and stiffness in this area of the foot. If rheumatoid arthritis is the cause of talonavicular arthritis it is important to treat both the rheumatoid arthritis and talonavicular arthritis symptoms. The symptoms and specific treatment of local symptoms are often similar regardless of the underlying cause of the talonavicular arthritis.
