Stephen Pinney, MD M.Ed FRCS(C) is an orthopaedic surgeon who is passionate about patient education and the role it serves in improving the care that individual patients receive. Dr. Pinney has an undergraduate degree from Harvard University and a medical degree from McGill University. He obtained a master’s degree in Adult Education and underwent his orthopaedic residency training at The University of British Columbia. This was followed by advanced fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery, and sports medicine. Dr. Pinney is board certified by both the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Dr. Pinney’s clinical career in orthopaedics has focused on common and complex foot and ankle problems, as well as orthopaedic trauma conditions. He served on the faculty at the Cleveland Clinic where he was director of continuous improvement for the Orthopaedic and Rheumatologic Institute. He has previously led the foot and ankle programs at The University of British Columbia, The University of California, San Francisco, and The University of California Davis. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society and served as President of the Orthopaedic Foot Club. Providing a patient-centered approach to care delivery has been a hallmark of his distinguished three-decade career.
